Praying for the Plastics Treaty Talks

Prayer requests from our team at the INC4 talks in Ottawa, Canada

We’re near the end of the fourth round of the global plastics treaty talks (INC-4) in Ottawa, Canada. Our team have had amazing opportunities to influence but meaningful action on plastic pollution still hangs in the balance.

  • Please give thanks that, so far, the text of the treaty still includes all the things we wanted to see.
  • Thank God for the wonderful lobbying opportunities that the team has had. Our delegates from Nepal, Peru and Malawi have been able to positively influence their own country delegations and have an impact on their regional groups.
  • Give thanks for our team being able to work well together with representatives from five continents, and pray for safe and smooth journeys home.
  • As the talks head into their final day, pray that enough progress is made to keep alive the opportunity for a world-changing treaty to be agreed by the end of this year. Pray against any delaying tactics, and for effective plans for any work needed before the next round of talks in November.
  • Pray for an effective treaty that cuts plastics pollution and serves people in poverty well, including safe and secure livelihoods for waste pickers.

Amen!
